Hyundai's New Verna (Accent) Makes Global Debut At Toronto Motor Show

Hyundai Verna 2017

Hyundai has unveiled the Accent (sold as the Verna in India) globally at the Toronto Motor Show

The Accent will be sold as a sedan, and upon the first glimpse, the car looks similar to the new Hyundai Elantra, featuring similar front design, along with the grille and headlight.

The design, in fact, is inspired by the new Elantra, which is seen on the exterior as well as the interior. The new Accent receives aluminium platform, which makes the car light and strong, resulting in a much more engaging car to drive.

The interior of the new Accent has also been updated, keeping the same design theme in mind. On the mechanical front, a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine will drive the car, and India could receive the 1.4-litre engine too.

Hyundai promises more usable power and better mileage efficiency, also claiming that mileage figures are up by 7 percent with the new car.

The updated Accent, or better known as the Verna will make its official debut in India soon, and when it does, will compete with the Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid, and other sedans in the segment.

It also brings the model’s engine range in line with the SUV maker’s international portfolio. As per the automaker’s website, the new 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel will be offered in two states of tune – a 150hp derivative and a more powerful 180hp variant. The 150hp derivative will be offered in lower trim levels while the top trims will use the 180hp unit. The nine-speed automatic gearbox from the current model will be carried forward . Interestingly, with the update, the more powerful diesel is also set t...

The illustrations preview a super aggressive design for the new Sonata with angles and creases and lines everywhere; however, expect most of those to disappear by the time the actual car comes out later this year. The facelifted Sonata is set to retain the turbocharged 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre petrol engines that currently power the car and the facelifted car could even keep hold of the quad exhaust design for the sportier variant. We are still not sure when the new Sonata will debut but with the car's popularity in the United States, an unveil could be expected at the New York Auto Show in April. The Hyundai Sonata facelift may not be due till summer, but Hyundai have already taken the...
