Range Rover Velar Images Leaked Ahead Of Reveal — Will It Trouble The Macan?

The Range Rover Velar will be positioned above the Evoque and shares its design language.

A full set of pictures revealing Land Rover's new Range Rover Velar sports crossover has made their way online, thanks to Diariomotor, ahead of the 2017 Geneva Motor Show world debut in a week's time.

The Velar's design language is apparently derived from the Evoque's low-greenhouse, sleek lines, and the general idea of a stretched Evoque seems to work reasonably well. The Velar will sit between the most affordable Range Rover, the Evoque, and the Sport.

The leaked photos reveal a simple exterior styling with influences from both Evoque (up front) and the Sport (rest of the body), though with more rounded and softer lines, as well as a more stylish roof than either one.

Inside the Range Rover Velar, it sports similar lines to the Range Rover models, the SUV progresses the brand's design further introducing two ultra-wide touchscreens, one for the infotainment system in the upper console and another placed right under it.

The lower console display seems to retain three physical knobs for the AC controls.

There is no confirmation about the engine specifications of the Velar, but it could be closely related to the Jaguar F-Pace, being built on the same platform, with V6 and possibly, V8 engines to be a choice added to muscle up the SVR performance variant.

The new Range Rover Velar will of course be making it to India next year with a possible 2018 Auto Expo unveil and should be priced around the Rs 70-80 lakh mark to go up against the likes of the BMW X5, the Audi Q7, the Volvo XC90 and even the Jaguar F-Pace and the Porsche Macan. The Velar gets laser technology for its headlights combined with a very tell-tale signature Range Rover LED daytime running light pattern and a large cross mesh style grille. The Velar is also one of the most aggressive looking products that has been launched from Land Rover with its angular vented bumper and elongated side slit design...

Further expanding its line-up in India, Italian supercar marque Lamborghini has now launched the new Aventador S LP 740-4 Coupe priced at ₹ 5.01 crore (ex-showroom). Essentially a meaner version of the standard Aventador, the 'S' suffix also signifies that the car comes with an improved design, sharper styling, better aerodynamics and a retuned V12 engine that now churns out over 40 bhp of additional power. The most interesting bit is that the car has arrived in India within a couple of months of its global launch, also this is the second launch from Lamborghini after the Huracan RWD Spyder. This shows how aggressive the carmaker is getting in terms of product strategies for India. Powering this new raging bull is a 6.5 litre V12 engine that churns out 730bhp at 8400 rpm and develops a peak torque of 690Nm at 5500 rpm. The motor comes mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. Also, the addition 40 bhp power allows ...
