Tata Tigor Geneva Edition - Showcased At Geneva Motor Show

The Tata Tigor is based on the Tiago platform and positioned under the Zest in the company's lineup

Ahead of its official launch in India later this month, Tata Motors has unveiled, what it calls a 'Styleback' - the Tigor, at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

The Tigor is being showcased in a special 'Geneva Edition' model at the show. The front grille of the compact sedan features a chrome strip that stretches into the projector headlamps to give the car an upmarket appearance.

The rear profile of the Tigor gets a sporty character, complete with LED tail-lamps. The roof flows almost coupé-like into the boot section; Tata's marketers call it the ‘Styleback'.

The interiors of the Tigor is a usual territory, as the design is similar to that of the Tiago. The subcompact sedan gets automatic climate control instead of manual air-conditioning, and the infotainment system is now a touchscreen.

The Tigor will feature an 8-speaker Harman infotainment system tuned by seasoned Harman audio experts. The Tigor will also feature a rear camera and steering-mounted audio and phone connectivity controls.

The Tigor showcased at the Geneva motor show is powered by an 85hp 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine shared with the Tiago hatchback. Upon launch in India, the Tigor is expected to come with a choice of a 70bhp 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel as well. Both engines will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard with automated manual transmissions (AMT) anticipated as options.

Tata Motors will launch the Tigor in India on March 29, 2017, and will compete with the upcoming Beat-based Chevrolet Essentia. Prices are expected to start around Rs 3.75 lakh onwards.
